Houston Police Department Crisis Intervention (CIT)
The Houston Police Department (HPD) Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) police officers are trained to work with people in mental health crisis.
Call the HPD Dispatch at 713-884-3131 to request a CIT Officer.
In an emergency, call 911 and request a CIT Officer. They will try to locate one but will send the closest officer to you for assistance immediately.

Important Notes: Clients wishing to get ongoing services at Ben Taub can apply for a Gold Card which assists with services in the Harris County Hospital District, but they do not need this to get emergency services. Ambulances will bring people to the Ben Taub ER not the NPC. Ambulances are not free and are a voluntary transport only.
