MHMRA staff at HCPC will screen the applicant once a hospital bed is available. Those in most need will receive treatment first. (Bed availability may take longer for those seeking chemical dependency services).

    3. A court order is then issued.
    4.

    5. An attorney is appointed to the case.
    6.

The HCPC physician must provide a medical certificate within 24 hours of the patient’s admission in order for the court to determine whether to issue an order of protective custody (OPC).
