Child and Adolescent Division

State contract requirements
Provided services for 3,052 children on average per quarter, exceeding the state contract requirement of serving 2,902 children per quarter.

Texas Integrated Funding Initiative (TIFI)
Granted renewed contract to provide interagency service integration and parent involvement to serve severely emotionally disturbed children in the Alief Independent School District.

Texas Council on Offenders with Mental Impairments contract
Received a $1 million contract through the Texas Council on Offenders with Mental Impairments (TCOMI) to serve the needs of juvenile offenders returning to Harris County from Texas Youth Commission facilities.

Juvenile Justice Department
Realigned the Juvenile Justice unit to increase Forensic unit assessments. Staff also conducted treatment at: Burnett-Bayland Home, Burnett-Bayland Receiving Center (BBRC), Westside Boot Camp (DBC), Harris County Youth Village, Juvenile Justice Mental Health Services Program (TCOMI).

First Time Offenders program
Redesigned the First Time Offenders program serving children referred from the justice of the peace courts and from other county courts. The program also moved to the Chimney Rock Center to be near youth services provided by Children’s Protective Services and the Juvenile
Probation Department.

Juvenile Probation Department
Continued a $145,534 contract between MHMRA and the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department in order to increase psychiatric services to children entering the Juvenile Justice system.

Intensive In-Home Services Project
Entered third year of TRIAD project (MHMRA, CPS and Juvenile Probation) to providing intensive treatment to youth and families. Treatment provides therapy and case management services in order to prevent hospitalization or out of home placement.

Safe Schools/Healthy Students Iinitiative
Began third year of collaboration with HISD in “Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative.” The program provides education, mental health and law enforcement services to students in the Yates and Austin High School feeder patterns.

Children’s Crisis Care Center Program (4 Cs program)
Added a psychiatric component to Children’s Protective Services’ 4 Cs program as part of an ongoing effort to enhance services to children placed in CPS conservatorship.
