Adult Mental Health Division

Social Security approval rate
Increased the Social Security benefit approval rate for consumers. End of year data reflected an approval rate that was a 30% increase over the prior fiscal year.

Third annual Consumer Conference
Organized and presented the third annual Consumer Conference. The conference was well attended and benefited from the active participation of the Consumer Advisory Council.

Bed day utilization at Rusk State Hospital
Developed a plan in conjunction with the Utilization Management Department for continuous liaison and monitoring of bed day utilization at Rusk State Hospital.

TACADA review of Dual Disorders program
Completion of the TACADA Peer Review process resulted in the recommendation thatf the Dual Disorders program be nominatedn as a national exemplary program.

598 consumers in Supported Employment program
Provided employment services to 598 unduplicated adult mental health consumers under the Supported Employment program. The program met the state contract requirement of having a daily census of 282. Achieved 180 competitive employment placements, 65% full-time positions. Wages earned were 75 cents more than standard minimum wage.

Quarterly employment forums, job fair
Initiated a quarterly employment forum for consumers with diverse representatives from the Houston Business Community and successfully conducted the second Houston Job Match
Job Fair with more than 25 vendors present.

TCOMI recognizes New Start as outstanding
Received recognition from the Texas Council on Offenders with Mental Impairments as having the most outstanding New Start program of the year in Texas, exceeding Medicaid revenue target by $315,000 and generating a total of $780,000. Achieved less than 1% recidivism rate among New Start consumers.

Psychotherapy services in clinics
Increased the number of psychotherapy services provided in all the major Adult Mental Health Division clinics. On average, 534 psychotherapy sessions were provided per month to an average of 635 consumers per month, an increase of 69%.

Rehabilitation Services targets
Consistently exceeded monthly revenue targets in Rehabilitation Services, surpassing revenue target by $65,315.
