Executive Medical Director

Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) Unit
Provided medical staff leadership on site during final planning and implementation of the NeuroPsychiatric Center’s (NPC) Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) unit.
Assisted with the design and implementation of medical and support contract services with the NPC. Recruited and hired additional attending physician staff as well as a relief pool of attending
physicians.
Completed the evaluation of “best” options for inpatient unit and the transition from original plan to open as a hospital to successfully open the short-term second floor unit as a Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). Completed a Texas Department of Health initial inspection of the CSU with successful
outcome.

Recruitment and Hiring
Recruited and filled the NPC Medical Director position, the Mental Retardation Medical Director position, and the Director of Nursing position, as well as a child psychologist for Harris County Psychiatric Center.

Social Work Training
Collaborated with the University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work to design and prepare for implementation of a unique graduate training opportunity within MHMRA facilities for agency employees.

Pharmacy Services
Continued provision of pharmacy services throughout several MHMRA sites, including NPC, and initiated evaluation process of pharmacy data system to ultimately demonstrate cost effective, therapeutic consumer care.

Quality Management
Continued to provide feedback to divisions relating to community standards audits as well as audit results of documentation/authorization for Medicaid CARD services/Rehab services/ and Service Coordination services.

Professional Staff Services
Completed credentialing process for physicians, clinical nurse specialists and physician assistants within NPC, thereby assisting the center in successfully complete the TDH survey.

Residency Training
Continued collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Health Science Center-Houston with integration of residents (years II-V) throughout various MHMRA divisions.
