800 Families Served by the Furniture Bank
__Provided furnishings to 574 MHMRA
consumer families and 213 client families from partner agencies
of the Furniture Bank.
Raised Funds for Renovation of Donated Furniture Bank
Warehouse
__Raised more than $140,000 from
the second annual benefit dinner. Funds raised are used for
renovation of the Furniture Banks donated warehouse and
for hiring an employee.
Value of Furniture Donations Exceed $500,000
Value of furniture donated to the Furniture Bank was more than
$500,000.
Began Deliveries to Homes of Consumers
__Provided furniture delivery,
for the first time, to clients homes. Nearly 300 Furniture
Bank deliveries were made 199 of them free deliveries
made to MHMRA clients.
Adopt-A-Family Assists 367 Consumer Families
__The Adopt a Family Holiday
Project provided 367 consumers and their family members
gifts and food during the holiday season. Community groups,
individual donors, and MHMRA employees made cash donations,
and gave gifts, toys and non-perishable food items.
More Than 800 Volunteers Provide Assistance
__Enlisted the help of 821 program
volunteers and special event participants who provided 13,096
hours of service for such events as the Houston Childrens
Festival, the Consumer Conference, and Serve Houston Day.
Provided Nearly 300 Presentations to Community Groups
__Volunteers of the Speakers Bureau
provided more than 300 presentations concerning mental health
and mental retardation issues to 9,975 Harris County community
groups and individuals.
Preparatory Work for NeuroPsychiatric Center
__Plans put in place for the grand
opening of the NeuroPsychiatric Center in the Texas Medical
Center.
Generated Publicity Valued in Excess of $2,228,400
__Promoted the agency and its programs
in newspaper articles and in radio and television interviews.
The annual value of this publicity is more than $2,228,400,
or an average of nearly $186,000 a month.
