Mental Retardation Division

Contract Performance
Met or exceeded all state contract targets regarding the number of individuals served.

Records Accuracy
Exceeded or met state contract requirement of 95% accuracy on quarterly audits of division records for the second, third, and fourth quarters.

Infant Programs Compliance, Targets
Received a Level 1 compliance rating for the Infant Programs in ECI (Early Childhood Intervention), the highest a program can receive from a state monitoring assessment. Infant Programs exceeded its ECI target for the number of children to be served during this fiscal year, earning an additional $200,000 in revenue to expand services within the catchment area.

Home and Community-Based Services
Achieved 100% compliance with Home & Community Based Services [HCS] Evidentiary Standards for the 3rd consecutive year.

New Day Treatment Center

Received Texas Education Agency certification for the New Day Treatment Center, a day program for school-aged children who have dual diagnoses (mental retardation and serious emotional disturbance). This will permit MHMRA to contract services in this program to HISD and other area school districts.

Helen Farabee Showcase Award
Received a Helen Farabee Showcase Award for ADAPT, a clinical day program for adult consumers with dual diagnoses, from TDMHMR. The award recognizes innovative ideas that support and improve the quality of life of consumers.

Governor’s Volunteer Award
Consumers and staff of one of the employment programs received a Certificate of Recognition in the 1999 Governor’s Volunteer Award for Outstanding achievement in the community. The program was nominated by the local American Red Cross chapter.

QAIS Annual Review
Continued improvement above previous quarterly reviews reflected during the annual QAIS (Quality Assurance & Improvement System) self assessment.

Annual Sweetheart Ball
Hosted the Annual Sweetheart Ball, a formal debutante party for persons who reside in MHMRA residential facilities. The event was attended by more than 100 consumers, family members, and staff.

Residential Facilities
Attained 100% compliance for Intermediate Care Facilities for the Mentally Retarded [ICF-MR] Program Standards at four agency-operated residential homes: Pasadena Cottages A and B, Donsky House, and Westbury House.
