The Training and Community Outreach program is charged with ensuring the training needs are meet for all departments/programs within the Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) Service Division and providing appropriate training to external contracted providers (i.e. general revenue, waiver providers). This unit provides ongoing support to employees pre and post-hire necessitated by workplace events, audit findings, and/or upon supervisors' requests. Additionally, the unit serves as a catalyst for educating the community
on developmental disabilities, MHMRA services, and community resources.
Outreach services are inclusive of attendance at fairs, community presentations,
participation in the Speaker's Bureau, and working collaboratively with
Independent School Districts within Houston and surrounding areas.
