At STARS, we provide intensive, short-term psychiatric, nursing, psychological and social work counseling services to children and adults. We also provide consultative service to providers. The services we offer include:

Our services are offered in a culturally sensitive environment by a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified specialists.

We serve children and adults whose condition is in need of specialized care and for whom resources are not available in the community. STARS serves consumers with severe behavior problems and with co-occurring diagnoses of mental illness and at least one of the following:

The first step in the application process is to contact the consumer’s Service Coordinator and request a referral. The referral must include a valid Determination of Mental Retardation and current information regarding the consumer’s medical condition and behavioral issues. If the consumer does not have a Mental Retardation Division Service Coordinator visit this link to learn how to access MHMRA services.

Consumers provide their own transportation. Consumers with special needs for transportation should contact their Service Coordinators.

A financial assessment determines whether co-payments apply and/or if MHMRA is a part of your Insurance Provider Network.

The STARS program is committed to helping our consumers progress sufficiently to be able to return to ongoing care within the network of community service providers. The STARS clinic provides intensive outpatient treatment that takes care of acutely ill dually diagnosed children and adults until they are stable enough to be served by community physicians and schools.
