WHAT WE DO

The New Day Treatment Program is an approved Texas Education Association nonpublic day school. Our focus is on treating psychiatric symptoms that have led to severe behavior problems in school. This program is available to any of the school districts in Harris County.

WHO WE SERVE

New Day Treatment Program serves children and adolescents, ages six through 22. To qualify for service the child must be enrolled in school and diagnosed with a mental health problem, mild to moderate mental retardation, and/or a pervasive developmental disorder such as autism or PDD NOS.

HOW TO ACCESS THIS SERVICE

The child’s school must hold an Admission, Review, and Dismissal conference (ARD) and recommend sending the student to the New Day Treatment Program. If you do not know how to request an ARD, you may contact the child’s school teacher for assistance. The child’s school district must approve the placement and agree to pay for this service.

ABOUT TRANSPORTATION

The school district will provide transportation as part of their contract to place the child with the New Day Treatment Program.

FEES YOU MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SERVICE

School districts wishing to place students with the New Day Treatment Program must complete a contract.

ADDITIONAL USEFUL INFORMATION

The New Day Treatment Program services are provided by an interdisciplinary treatment team representing the professions of psychiatry, psychology, nursing, special education, and clinical social work. In addition, services such as family/individual therapy and consultations with speech pathologists are also available.
