STARS Feeding Disorder Clinic

At STARS, we provide psychiatric, nursing, behavior analytic, psychological and social work counseling services to children and adults with Intellectual Disabilities including Autism, and co-occurring psychiatric conditions or severe behaviors. We also provide consultative service to providers. The services we offer include:

  • Evaluation
  • Diagnosis
  • Medication stabilization and medication management
  • Parent education about disabilities
  • Psychotherapy and counseling
  • Applied behavior analysis

Our services are offered in a culturally sensitive environment by a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified specialists.

We serve children and adults whose condition is in need of specialized care and for whom resources are not available in the community. STARS serves consumers with severe behavior problems and with co-occurring diagnoses of mental illness and at least one of the following:

  • Intellectual and Developmental Disability
  • A pervasive developmental disorder (Autism, Asperger's Disorder, or PDD NOS)

The first step in the application process is to contact the individualís Service Coordinator and request a referral. The referral must include a valid Determination of Intellectual Disability (DID) and current information regarding the individual ís medical condition and behavioral issues. If the individual does not have a Service Coordinator visit this link to learn how to access The Harris Center's services.

Individuals/families provide their own transportation. Individuals with special needs for transportation should contact their Service Coordinators.

A financial assessment determines whether co-payments apply and/or if The Harris Center is a part of your Insurance Provider Network.

The STARS program is committed to helping our individuals progress sufficiently to be able to return to ongoing care within the network of community service providers. The STARS clinic provides intensive outpatient treatment that takes care of acutely ill dually diagnosed children and adults until they are stable enough to be served by community physicians and schools.
