Employment Forums

Employment Forums are designed to integrate community resources. We will use these forums as a learning tool for people employed in professions who have a common interest in serving persons who have disabilities. We will share new information, strategies and, in general, provide a means for people to increase their knowledge.

Job Fairs

A job fair is also referred commonly as a career fair or career expo. It is a fair or exposition for employers and recruiters to meet with prospective job seekers. Job fairs are good places to meet many company representatives from corporations of all industries and sizes during a short period of time. Job fair networking can be generally described as the process of interacting with, obtaining contact details of, and getting to know company recruiters.

Job Readiness

Job Readiness is a means to prepare an individual for the world of work (e.g. appropriate work behaviors, getting to work on time, appropriate dress and grooming, increasing productivity). We offer a wide range of job training programs for individuals facing barriers to employment. Some participants with limited work history, educational attainment, and/or English language skills complete a job readiness program as the first step toward a job in customer service, food service, retail/warehouse/merchandise processing, maintenance, office administration, and other fields.

Limited Job Coaching

A job coach is a person who provides specialized on-site training to employees with disabilities. Typically, a job coach will help an employee learn to perform his/her job accurately, efficiently and safely. In many cases, the job coach may also help the employee acclimate to his/her work environment. The job coach's degree of involvement with the employee should decrease over time—as the employee masters the requirements of the position—the job coach will then contact the employee and supervisor on an as-needed basis.

Employment Assessment & Planning

Employment Assessment and Planning services provide a comprehensive assessment to help persons with disabilities develop a plan for employment. In addition to making employment and training recommendations, CFA identifies community resources that could improve the quality of life for those who are unprepared for immediate placement in employment.

Job Bank

We provide a data bank of job listings by category, usually contained on a computer. Job banks are used for the purpose of providing job applicants with greater access to job openings and managers with a larger pool of workers from which to choose.

Limited Job Shadowing

Job shadowing is a work experience option where individuals learn about a job by walking through the workday as a shadow to a competent worker. The job shadowing work experience is a temporary, unpaid exposure to the workplace in an occupational area of interest to the individual. Individuals witness firsthand the work environment, employability and occupational skills in practice, the value of professional training and potential career options. Job shadowing is designed to increase career awareness, help model individual behavior through examples, and reinforce in the individual the link between classroom learning and work requirements. Job shadowing is limited in that it allows individuals to observe only; direct work experience, responsibility, and skills are not acquired.

Job Retention Education

Helping individuals maintain their jobs is a unique feature of our program. We provide ongoing individualized supports that assist the employee in areas such as structuring needed workplace accommodations, monitoring and assessing job stability, adjusting supports to address changing needs both at and away from the job site, and providing other supports that enhance job retention.
